Keith Haring mural at NY's LGBT Center Gets Some Needed Attention

 In 1989, a year before passing away from AIDS-related complications, Keith and several other artists commemorated the 20th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots at New York's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered Community Center. Keith made his mark on the men's bathroom, which is now used as a meeting space. In line with his support of art in public spaces, the meeting room is available to rent. The mural surface needed some attention after 22 years since its creation and RLACA was called upon to lessen the effects of aging that is natural in such a public environment. Conservators removed surface grime and dust from the mural and pipes, set down flaking paint, and inpainted losses.
